Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is just about a century old. Current craps evolved from the old English game called Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the origin of the game, however Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It is believed that Sir William’s paladins wagered on Hazard amid a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.

Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when exiled by the British, the French relocated down south and located refuge in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it mathematically fair.
